Former Australian opener Matthew Hayden believes that in his prime, Michael Hussey could have beaten MS Dhoni in a 100-meter race.
While Dhoni is well-known for his quick running between the wickets, Hayden claimed that a younger Hussey would have been even faster than Dhoni during his peak.
Apart from being known for his quick runs between the wickets, the legendary Indian cricketer even defeated Hardik Pandya in a 100-meter dash in 2017 despite being 12 years older.
Despite these facts, Hayden believes that Hussey would have outpaced his former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) teammate Dhoni in a 100-meter race during his playing days. Well, the former Australian batter and commentator further revealed how one can unsettle the charismatic Dhoni on the field.
Matthew Hayden said on ESPNCricinfo: “MS Dhoni is generally unflappable, but if you really want to unsettle him, just display slack fielding effort. If you don't contribute in the field, that's one of the few times you'd look at him and think, 'Oh, that's not going to be good.”
On being asked who will win an imaginary 100-meter race between Dhoni and Hussey at their peaks, Hayden supported his former Australian teammate by simply stating, “Michael Hussey”.
Interestingly, Hayden described the legendary Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh as the most entertaining sledger he has seen in the game of cricket.
He signed off by saying, “I always loved the battle with Harbhajan Singh; he was a beauty.”
