Pujara has played 18 County games for Sussex in three seasons | GettyIndia batter Cheteshwar Pujara has re-signed with English county cricket club Sussex for the 2024 season after he was not picked in the Indian team for the upcoming tour of South Africa for two Tests.

Pujara was a part of the India squad for the World Test Championship final earlier in the year but found himself dropped for the tour of the West Indies earlier.

The Indian batter has been a part of the Sussex side for the past three seasons and has a terrific record with them. Pujara even captained the English side and scored a hundred on his debut as skipper for the side.

In his 18 County Championship appearances for Sussex, Pujara has accumulated an astonishing 1863 runs at an average of 64.24, including eight centuries and three half-centuries. His highest score for Sussex came against Derbyshire in 2022 when he made 231.

Speaking on his delight at returning to Sussex, Pujara said: "I have enjoyed my time at Hove the last couple of seasons and couldn’t be more delighted to be back again with the Sussex family. I am looking forward to joining the team and contributing to its success."

Pujara will be available for the first seven county championship games for Sussex, the English side announced on their website.

"Sussex Cricket is delighted to announce the re-signing of India Test batter, Cheteshwar Pujara and Australian batter, Daniel Hughes as overseas signings for the 2024 season,” Sussex posted on X.
