Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli | GettyShubman Gill is widely considered as the next poster boy of Indian cricket and the classy right-hander has justified the hype with stunning exploits this year.

Gill is the leading run-scorer for India across formats in 2023. In 29 international innings, he has amassed 1584 runs at an average of 63.36 with five tons and nine fifties.

The 24-year-old also finished this year’s IPL as the top run-getter with 890 runs at a strike rate of 157.80, including three hundreds and four half-centuries.

Besides batting, Shubman has also impressed one and all with his fitness. No wonder, Ankit Kaliyar –the strength and conditioning coach of the Indian cricket team – hailed Gill as a fit as well as a skillful player.

Kaliyar also revealed that Shubman Gill is inspired by none other than Virat Kohli and follows him to improve his batting as well as fitness.

“Shubman is very fit. Not just fit, he is a very skillful player. There is no doubt that Shubman is inspired by Virat bhai. Be it batting, fitness, or skill, Shubman is following Virat bhai. I am sure Shubman will be doing well for the country in the coming years,” Kaliyar told the Times of India.

Shubman Gill is currently touring South Africa with the Indian team. He is part of the T20I and Test squads, while India will play three T20Is, three ODIs and two Tests on the tour.
