Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh has reacted to the recent controversy involving Gautam Gambhir and Sreesanth, as the two World Cup winners had an on-field clash during the ongoing Legends League Cricket (LLC) 2023 tournament.
The brawl erupted when Gambhir allegedly referred to the former India fast bowler as a "fixer" during their LLC game in Surat on Wednesday. It later spread to social media, with Sreesanth writing a lengthy Instagram post in response to Gambhir's mysterious statement.
However, when Harbhajan Singh, who led Manipal Tigers to a title win on Saturday in Surat, was asked about his take on the incident, he channelized his inner Shah Rukh Khan to deliver an epic response.
"Bade baad shehro mein chhoti chhoti baatein hoti rehti hain(in big cities, small things keep happening)," Harbhajan said in a presser when asked about the Gambhir-Sreesanth issue.
However, Harbhajan was not happy when a reporter spoke about the IPL 2008 slap gate incident when the spinner had slapped Sreesanth after a match. Singh said that it is an old incident and shouldn’t be brought up now.
"That is an incident of the past. Let's not bring that up. What happened then was not right, and I don't have any hesitation in saying that the fault was mine. I don't know what happened this time (between Sreesanth and Gambhir). LLC has offered good cricket this year, and it would be better to stick to that only," he said.
LLC organizers addressed the issue, saying that they would conduct an "internal investigation" and any proof of "misconduct" would be "dealt with strictly".
