MS Dhoni was retained as captain by CSK before IPL 2024 auction | XChennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni has confirmed his participation in the upcoming IPL 2024 season. CSK retained their mercurial captain ahead of the deadline as they prepare for the mini-auction which will take place in Dubai on December 19.

Chennai Super Kings, captained by MS Dhoni, have retained 19 players and let go of eight after securing their fifth IPL trophy in the previous season.

MS Dhoni-led CSK to their fifth title in IPL 2023, equaling Mumbai Indians’ record for most IPL trophy wins. However, soon after the final, which was played in Ahmedabad, Dhoni flew to Mumbai and had an operation on his left knee, which had troubled him throughout the tournament.

The CSK captain is now recovering from knee surgery that he had in June. It is unclear whether Dhoni will play the entire IPL season. However, following CSK's fifth victory, the wicketkeeper-batsman announced that he would like to play one more IPL season as a gift to his adoring supporters.

Meanwhile, as he prepares for the IPL 2024, MS Dhoni paid a visit to the local Ambe Maa temple in Ranchi to seek the blessings of the goddess and the photo has gone viral.
