India pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been bowling exceptionally well ever since his comeback to international cricket following the back surgery.

The right-arm quick played an instrumental role in India’s Asia Cup 2023 triumph and then made the batters dance to his tunes in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.

Bumrah took 20 wickets from 11 games at a remarkable average of 18.67 in the World Cup. He impressed one and all with his ability to take wickets in all phases of the game.

With his stunning exploits, Bumrah also left a lasting impression on Olympic gold medallist Neeraj Chopra.

“I like Jasprit Bumrah, I find his action unique,” Chopra said while speaking on the Indian Express’ Idea Exchange.

Chopra also suggested Bumrah to lengthen his run-up to generate more pace. “I feel he should lengthen his run-up to add more pace,” he said.

“As a javelin thrower, we often discuss how bowlers can increase their pace if they start their run-up from a little further back. I like Bumrah’s style.”

Team India were on a winning streak of 10 matches in the recently held Cricket World Cup at home. However, they were outplayed by Australia in the title clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on November 19.

Neeraj Chopra attended the World Cup final at the world’s largest stadium and shared his experience as a fan.

“This was the first time I watched a match fully. When I was on the flight, India had lost three wickets already. Virat (Kohli) bhai and KL Rahul were batting when I reached. There are some technical things that I don’t understand,” Chopra said.

“Batting in the daytime wasn’t very easy. In the evening, I think, batting became easy. But our guys tried. Sometimes, it’s just not our day. But, frankly, everyone had a great tournament.

“Maybe, somewhere mentally, the Australian team held an edge at the start. When they bowled, I found they had a strong mindset. In the end, they had completely flipped it over. They were confident about their game,” he further remarked.
