The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday (November 20) announced India’s 15-member squad for the five-match T20I series against Australia, slated to get underway on November 23 in Visakhapatnam.
Suryakumar Yadav has been named captain for the T20I series as Hardik Pandya is yet to recover from the ankle injury he sustained during the World Cup 2023 match against Bangladesh last month.
Besides Surya, Ishan Kishan and Prasidh Krishna are the two other World Cup squad members picked for the Australia T20Is.
The likes of Ruturaj Gaikwad, Tilak Varma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shivam Dube and Rinku Singh retained their spots in the T20I squad. Jitesh Sharma is the designated wicketkeeper-batter in the squad.
Ravi Bishnoi will lead the spin department whereas Washington Sundar and Akshar Patel are part of the side as spin all-rounders.
Prasidh Krishna will spearhead the pace attack, which includes Arshdeep Singh, Mukesh Kumar and Avesh Khan as well.
While Ruturaj Gaikwad will be the deputy of Suryakumar Yadav for the first three games, Shreyas Iyer will join the squad as vice-captain for the last two T20Is.
