Apart from Gill, India pacer Mohammed Siraj and England opener Dawid Malan have also been shortlisted for the month of September in the men's category.

Gill, the rising star of Indian cricket, was in terrific touch during the month of September as he aggregated a total of 480 ODI runs at a remarkable average of 80.

The elegant right-hander slammed two half-centuries and an impressive century during India’s triumphant Asia Cup 2023 campaign. He then exhibited his class in the three-ODI series against Australia at home, registering scores of 74 and 104 in the first two games that he played.

Talking about Siraj, the right-arm quick produced some excellent spells throughout September but it was his six-wicket haul against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup final that stood out.

Siraj finished the continental tournament with 10 wickets at an average of 12.2, which pushed him to the top of ICC Men's ODI Player Rankings among bowlers. Overall, he picked up a total of 11 scalps at an average of 17.27 last month.

As far as Malan is concerned, the southpaw was brilliant for the majority of September. He earned the Player of the Series award for his stunning exploits during England's home ODI series against New Zealand.

Malan featured in three matches during the series, registering scores of 54, 96 and 127. He also scored his runs with an impressive strike rate of 105.72 to stamp his authority.
