Steve Smith and Virat Kohli | GettyVeteran India wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik on Monday (October 3) narrated a fascinating anecdote, involving two of the best batters of the modern era – Virat Kohli and Steve Smith.

Karthik was part of the commentary team for the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023 Final between India and Australia in June this year.

On the sidelines of the WTC Final at The Oval, Karthik interacted with Smith after he saw Kohli’s written underneath the Australia legend’s bat.

Dinesh Karthik shared the details about the moment in a video shared by Cricbuzz on Instagram.

"I saw him (Steve Smith) in the World Test Championship Final. I just picked up his bat and underneath the bat, I saw Virat Kohli written and I am thinking ‘Virat Kohli.’ I asked him ‘Did Virat Kohli give you this bat?’ He said ‘yes'," the 38-year-old said.

“He (Steve Smith) has almost been playing with Virat Kohli’s bat for some time now. And he told me that he was waiting for Virat Kohli to send another bat for the Ashes which just happened. That’s the kind of relationship and friendship some of the greats share and it’s so good to know,” he added.
