Former Indian opener-turned-commentator Gautam Gambhir recently stunned the cricket world by hailing MS Dhoni’s sacrifices for Indian cricket.  Gambhir lauded MS Dhoni for his remarkable contributions to Indian cricket.

According to Gambhir, if Dhoni had batted in the No. 3 position for India, he could have broken numerous batting records.

However, Dhoni selflessly chose to sacrifice his personal achievements for the greater good of the team. A few days after Gambhir's statement, former Indian pacer and teammate of Dhoni and present BJP MP Sreesanth claimed that the former Indian skipper didn’t scarify his batting position.

However, the 2011 World Cup winner said that Dhoni sacrificed his international runs for trophies that he won as captain for India. He also lauded his captaincy, which has the ability to bring the best out of any player.

Speaking to Sportskeeda, Sreesanth said: Gautam Bhai said recently that Dhoni would have scored more runs had he batted at No.3. But for Dhoni it was always about more victories than more runs. He always had the ability to finish games when the team needed him and he won two World Cups as well.”

He signed off by saying, “Credit should go to Dhoni, but he didn't sacrifice his batting position. He worked a way to find out which players would do well for the team in which position and then slot them in those positions accordingly. His captaincy had the ability to bring the best out of his players. He has always thought about the team first.”
