Cheteshwar Pujara | GettyCheteshwar Pujara has been suspended for one English county match after Sussex were handed a 12-point penalty because of a code of conduct violation during the match against Leicestershire.

Skipper Pujara received an automatic one-match suspension after the club accumulated their fourth fixed penalty of the season. He will miss the game against Derbyshire, starting September 19.

Moreover, Sussex have dropped Jack Carson, Tom Haines and Ari Karvelas for their conduct.

“We have made Jack and Tom unavailable for selection for this game at Derbyshire,” Sussex head coach Paul Farbrace said.

“Following the umpires and match referee’s decision to charge both players with on-field level one and level two offences, we needed to take a stance, and show them we will not condone such behaviours.

“Ultimately it has cost us the availability of Cheteshwar and we have been deducted 12 points.”

Sussex came into the fixture against Leicestershire with two fixed penalties against them. Pujara was charged with a Level 1 offence in the first match of the season against Durham while Tom Haines was reprimanded during a fixture against Yorkshire in April.
