BCCI names revised India squads for Asian Games after injuries to Shivam Mavi and Anjali Sarvani

Both Men's and Women's team will be competing at the Asian Games in Hangzhou.

BCCI makes changes to the India squads for Asian Games

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced revised India Men's and Women's squads for their respective competitions at the upcoming Asian Games in Hangzhou.

In the Men's squad, fast bowler, Shivam Mavi, was ruled out after suffering a back injury and is replaced by Bengal and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) right-arm seamer Akash Deep.

While in the Women's squad, left-arm seamer, Anjali Sarvani, sustained a knee injury and has been replaced by all-rounder Pooja Vastrakar, who was previously named among the standby players.

The Asian Games in Hangzhou will be the first instance of both Men’s and Women's cricket being played simultaneously at the games. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the Indian teams, respectively.

Women’s cricket was included last year as an event at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, with India clinching the silver medal.

The women’s event will start on September 19 and will conclude on October 8, while the men’s event will be played between September 28 and October 8.

Standby list of players: Yash Thakur, Sai Kishore, Venkatesh Iyer, Deepak Hooda, Sai Sudarsan.

Team India (Senior Women) squad for 19th Asian Games: Harmanpreet Kaur (Captain), Smriti Mandhana (VC), Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh (wk), Amanjot Kaur, Devika Vaidya, Titas Sadhu, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Minnu Mani, Kanika Ahuja, Uma Chetry (wk), Anusha Bareddy, Pooja Vastrakar.

Standby list of players: Harleen Deol, Kashvee Gautam, Sneh Rana, Saika Ishaque.
