IDFC FIRST Bank has reportedly bagged the rights for title sponsorship of India’s home international matches for three years. It beat out competition from Sony Sports India and acquired the rights for Rs 4.2 crore per international game,
This reflects an increase of over 40 lakhs compared to the previous value of Rs 3.8 crore. The base price for the bidding was set at Rs 2.4 crore.
IDFC FIRST Bank is set to take over from Mastercard, the former title sponsor that went on to acquire the sub-license from Paytm. Both entities were contributing Rs 3.8 crore per game.
The three-year partnership between IDFC and BCCI is set to commence next month with the upcoming Australia tour of India, featuring three ODIs. The agreement extends until August 2026 and which includes a total of 56 international fixtures.
Cricbuzz reported that the agreement will extend until August 2026 and cover a total of 56 international games. In total, the BCCI is set to generate nearly Rs 1000 crores from this title sponsorship.
In the competitive bidding process, IDFC emerged victorious against strong competition, including Sony Sports, a major player in sports broadcasting. This was the first that Sony Sports entered into the domain of title sponsorship.
After the World Cup, Team India will play a five-match T20I series against Australia at home and then will tour South Africa for the three T20Is, three ODIs, and two Test matches.
After the South Africa tour, India will play three T20Is against Afghanistan at home from January 11 to January 17, 2024, and will then engage with England in a blockbuster five-Test series from January 25 to March 7, 2024.
