“Please stop circulating false news”- Iftikhar Ahmed on his supposed comment on Indian team

Ahmed also called for the account spreading the quote to be banned.

Iftikhar Ahmed | GettyPakistan cricketer Iftikhar Ahmed has slammed a fake viral quote attributed to him, which mentioned how he felt like he was playing with children whenever the Men in Green clashed with India in international cricket.

Iftikhar has become one of Pakistan's most well-liked cricketers, and 'Ifti-mania' has swept the nation as a result of his amazing big-hitting performances.

Iftikhar is not the only player to have to retract an incorrect phrase; Nasser Hussain also had to clarify an incorrect remark about India during a match between Pakistan and India.

Ahmed was the hero for the Pakistan team in their narrow loss to the Indian team in the T20 World Cup 2022 tie in Australia, when his half-century enabled the Men in Green to post a competitive total on the board.

But recently, a social media handle on X posted a photo of him from the T20 World Cup match and posted a supposed “quote” from him in which he allegedly compared playing against India to playing with 'street children’.

The post went viral shortly and evoked mixed reactions from fans on the social media platform.

But now, Iftikhar has taken to social media and refuted the claims that the quote was his. He also called out the user who made the post and said that the said person’s account should be blocked.

"I've been made aware of this statement which I've never made. In fact, no professional cricketer will make such a statement. Please stop circulating false news & report this individual for spreading hate. @X @elonmusk please ban this account as people are misusing the blue tick," Iftikhar posted.

Iftikhar has been named in Pakistan's 2023 Asia Cup squad, which will be led by Babar Azam. Iftikhar was most recently seen in action for the Colombo Strikers in the Lanka Premier League (LPL 2023).
