Nitish Rana and Dhruv Shorey approach DDCA for NOC to leave Delhi team- Report

Both Rana and Shorey were in DDCA plans for upcoming Buchi Babu tournament.

Dhruv Shorey and Nitish Rana | XNitish Rana and Dhruv Shorey, pillars of Delhi cricket, have reportedly made up their mind to leave the state team and move to other pastures as they approached DDCA for a no-objection certificate (NOC) ahead of the upcoming domestic season.

As per a report in CricketNext, both the players are unhappy with the way they have been treated and the lack of opportunities with the Delhi team.

Nitish Rana scored 11 and 6* in Delhi’s win over Mumbai in January at the Ranji Trophy. But he pulled himself out of the reckoning for the season’s last fixture against Hyderabad.

Nitish Rana was exploring options after the last season ended. He wasn’t happy with the way he was dropped midway through last season and was on the lookout. He returned for the game against Mumbai and then made himself unavailable for the game against Hyderabad,” a source told Cricket Next.

He didn’t feature against Tamil Nadu, Saurashtra, and Andhra, after scoring 14 & 40 vs Maharashtra, and 0 vs Assam.

On the other hand, Dhruv Shorey, while remaining an asset for Delhi in red-ball cricket, wants to continue playing white-ball formats as well and hence is exploring opportunities elsewhere.

Shorey, 31, scored 135 runs in North Zone’s quarter-final win over North East in the Duleep Trophy but couldn’t reproduce his form in the semi-final, won by eventual champions South Zone.

With regards to Dhruv, he was a red-ball asset for Delhi but wasn’t happy with opportunities in shorter formats. He still wants to play white ball cricket,” said the source.

The report also stated that the DDCA kept Shorey and Rana in their leadership plans while finalizing the team for the Buchi Babu tournament. However, the pair asked for an NOC a day before the team was set to leave for the multi-day tournament.
