Fawad Alam | GettyFawad Alam, veteran batter has decided to quit cricket in Pakistan and has moved base to the United States of America (USA) where he will play for Chicago Kingsmen in Minor League Cricket T20 as a local player.

The 37-year-old left-handed batter played 19 Tests, 38 ODIs, and 24 T20Is for Pakistan with 5 Test centuries and a solitary ODI century against Sri Lanka in the 2014 Asia Cup. He was also part of Pakistan’s 2009 T20 World Cup winning side, having made his debut in 2007.

In 19 Tests, Alam has scored 1011 runs at an average of 38.88 and a strike rate of 46.58. Alam also played 38 ODIs and 24 T20Is for Pakistan, scoring 966 and 194 runs respectively.

By joining USA cricket, he becomes part of the list of Pakistani players shifting base for greener pastures like Sami Aslam, Hammad Azam, Saif Badar, and Mohammad Mohsin.

Alam had scored a century on his Test debut in 2009 and was dropped after a couple of matches. He then had to wait for 11 years to play his next Test match. In the meantime, he scored a truckload of runs in domestic cricket.

He was one of the best batters for the Pakistan side for a brief period, where he churned out Test centuries against New Zealand, South Africa, West Indies, and Zimbabwe. However, Alam's unorthodox technique was found out against Australia in early 2022. He managed just 33 runs in 4 innings on the most docile tracks.

His last game for Pakistan came in July 2022 in Sri Lanka and he was dropped once again.
