Both Krishna and Bumrah suffered from stress fractures to the back and underwent surgeries recently.  Bumrah last played for India in September 2022 and Krishna’s game for India came in August last year.

Bumrah missed the Asia Cup 2022, T20 Worl Cup 2022, and both the bowlers also missed the IPL 2023. The duo had been recuperating at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.
