Afghanistan batter Sediqullah Atal left the cricketing world stunned with his power hitting during a Kabul Premier League match on Saturday (July 29).
Leading his team Shaheen Hunters against Abasin Defenders, Atal took left-arm spinner Amir Zazai to the cleaners, smashing him for seven sixes in a single over, which also included a no-ball.
During the 19th over of Shaheen’s innings, Atal wasted no time and hammered the first delivery for a massive six, and to add to Zazai's misery, it was deemed a no-ball.
Following that, Zazai conceded five wides while the last six deliveries went for sixes. The over ultimately resulted in 48 runs.
Shaheen Hunters finished their innings with a mammoth total of 213/6, with Sediqullah Atal remaining unbeaten on 118 off 56 balls, featuring 7 fours and 10 sixes. In reply, Abasin Defenders were bundled out for 121 in 18.3 overs.
This is the second instance that a batter has hit a total of seven sixes in an over. India batter Ruturaj Gaikwad achieved the feat in a Vijay Hazare Trophy match between Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh last year.
UP bowler Shiva Singh was at the receiving end of Gaikwad’s onslaught. He was also guilty of conceding a six off a no-ball as Ruturaj clobbered all seven deliveries out of the park.
