Nita Ambani's Reliance owns the MI New York franchise in MLC | TwitterOwner of the Mumbai Indians IPL franchise, Nita Ambani is positive about interest growing for the game of cricket in the USA, thanks to the ongoing Major League Cricket (MLC 2023), and also pointed out PM Narendra Modi speaking about the same in the White House recently.

The likes of MI New York (sister franchise of Mumbai Indians), Texas Super Kings (Chennai Super Kings), and LA Knight Riders (Kolkata Knight Riders) are part of the six teams in the inaugural Major League Cricket (MLC).

This sees USA’s entry into the highly competitive and ever-growing world of franchise T20 league.

Nita Ambani, chairperson of Reliance Foundation, believes that cricket is a growing sport in a country like the USA where basketball, American football, baseball, and other events have been dominant.

After parting ways with LSG, Andy Flower in talks with two IPL franchises: Report

Interest in Cricket in the US can only grow. I think it’s a growing interest we have six teams. At this moment Mumbai Indians (NY) are playing against Texas Super Kings. Our Prime Minister at the White House also spoke about, so many people have invested in these teams that interest I am sure will only grow,” Nita Ambani told ANI.

MI New York is owned by Reliance Industries Limited and is captained by all-rounder Kieron Pollard. The franchise has won one of its first three matches of the season so far and is currently fourth on the MLC points table.

The MI NY features the likes of Trent Boult, Rashid Khan, Kagiso Rabada, and rising stars like Dewald Brevis, Tim David, and more.

MLC got underway on July 13 and the final will be held on July 30 at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas.
