“One of the most embarrassing things I have done”: Dravid recalls his mother’s reaction after ‘Indiranagar ka gunda’ ad

Rahul Dravid has portrayed himself as ‘Indiranagar ka gunda’ in the Cred advertisement.

Rahul Dravid | ScreengrabIndia head coach Rahul Dravid has revealed that his mother was in disbelief after watching his Cred advertisement, where he portrayed himself as ‘Indiranagar ka gunda’.

Speaking at a recent event, Dravid opened up on the reaction he received after the release of the advert two years back.

“There are people who look at me very differently now, thinking when is this guy going to explode. It’s been a really good, positive response. I wasn’t very sure about the reactions. But I think it’s been really well received,” Dravid said about the shot that shows him breaking a car’s side mirror with a bat.

“It’s been really positive expect for my mum. My mum is still not really convinced about it. I think she still believes that I shouldn’t have been smashing the glass. She’s like – you really think this is…?,” he added.

“It is probably one of the most embarrassing things I have done – standing in Bombay in front of the street. Even though it’s an ad shoot and you know there are people around you, who are semi-actors or whatever they are. Still, for someone like me to stand in the middle of that road, keep screaming and shouting, was really embarrassing,” he further stated.

Rahul Dravid is currently in the West Indies with the Indian team for an all-format tour. India will play two Tests, three ODIs and five T20Is on the Caribbean tour.

The tour begins with two Test matches as part of the 2023-2025 ICC World Test Championship cycle. Windsor Park in Dominica will host the first Test match from July 12-16 while the second Test will be played at Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad from July 20-24.

The Test series is followed by three One-Day Internationals. The ODI series will get underway at Kensington Oval in Barbados on July 27. Barbados will also host the second ODI on July 29 while the 50-over series concludes on August 1 at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad.

The T20I series starts at Brian Lara Cricket Academy on August 3. Guyana will stage the second and third T20Is on August 6 and August 8 respectively. The T20I series concludes in Lauderhill, Florida with a blockbuster weekend of back-to-back matches on August 12 and August 13 at Broward County Cricket Stadium.
