“There is a big question about his comeback…”: DDCA official on Rishabh Pant’s possible return to action

Rishabh Pant is currently on the road to recovery after surviving a horrific car crash.

Rishabh Pant | GettyHaving survived a horrific car crash last December, India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore.

Pant sustained multiple injuries in the near-fatal accident and has been away from competitive action since then. The southpaw was badly missed by Team India in the WTC final 2023, which they lost to Australia by 209 runs at The Oval last month.

While there is no clarity on his comeback yet, a report published in ANI claimed that Rishabh would be back on the field as soon as possible.

According to the report, Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) committee led by Directors Shyam Sharma and Harish Singla recently met Rishabh Pant at NCA.

Speaking to ANI, Shyam provided update on Pant’s recovery and said: "He is doing well in his recovery and now he is a lot better. There is a big question about his comeback as it takes time but I hope he will be back on the field as soon as possible."

Rishabh Pant was last seen in action during the tour of Bangladesh in December 2022. Mirpur Test against Bangladesh was his last appearance before he met with the accident.

Pant has been keeping his fans updated about his recovery through his social media posts. In May of this year, the left-hander shared a video on Instagram, in which he was seen throwing away crutches and walking without support. Earlier this week, he uploaded a picture of him training in the gym.
