Former India batter Ambati Rayudu has opted out of the inaugural season of Major League Cricket, his team Texas Super Kings confirmed on Saturday (July 8).
Rayudu was signed by TSK last month after he retired from all forms of Indian cricket after winning the IPL 2023 with Chennai Super Kings.
Rayudu was set to become the first Indian international to play in MLC but he will now be missing out due to personal reasons.
"Ambati Rayudu will not be available to participate in the first season of the MLC with Texas Super Kings due to personal reasons. He will continue to cheer for the team from India," TSK, the sister franchise of CSK, said in a statement.
Ambati Rayudu represented India in 55 ODIs, scoring 1694 runs at an average of 47.06 with three centuries and 10 fifties. He also featured in 6 T20Is and managed to aggregate only 42 runs.
In IPL, Rayudu featured in 204 games for Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings. He amassed 4348 runs with one century and 22 fifties in the cash-rich league.
