Yash Dhull named captain as India A squad for ACC Men’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023 announced

The tournament will be held in Sri Lanka from July 13 to July 23.

Yash Dhull | GettyBCCI’s Junior Cricket Committee on Tuesday (July 4) announced India A squad for the upcoming ACC Men’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023, slated to be held in Sri Lanka from July 13 to July 23.

India’s U-19 World Cup-winning skipper Yash Dhull has been appointed captain for the continental tournament, with Abhishek Sharma being named his deputy.

The 16-member squad also features some well-known names like Sai Sudharsan, Riyan Parag, Prabhsimran Singh, Dhruv Jurel and Rajvardhan Hangargekar.

Harsh Dubey, Nehal  Wadhera, Snell Patel and Mohit Redkar are the four standby players for the competition while Sitanshu Kotak (Head Coach), Sairaj Bahutule (Bowling Coach), Munish Bali (Fielding Coach) are part of the coaching staff.

The tournament will feature eight Asian countries and it will be played in a 50-over format. India A are slotted in Group B alongside Nepal, UAE A and Pakistan A while Sri Lanka A, Bangladesh A, Afghanistan A and Oman A form Group A.

The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-final. The first semi-final will be contested between Group A topper against 2nd spot holder from Group B while the second semi-final will be contested between Group B topper and 2nd spot holder from Group A on 21st July.

The summit clash will take place on 23rd July.
