Virat Kohli’s achievement as a cricketer is surreal, to say the least. He has taken Indian cricket to greater heights with his batting and captaincy over the years.

Kohli has represented India in 109 Tests, 274 ODIs and 115 T20Is so far, amassing more than 25000 international runs with 75 centuries. He led India in 213 matches across formats and won 135 of them. His success rate as Indian captain is one of the best in the history of cricket.

No wonder, Kohli is considered as one of the finest cricketers of the modern era. On Tuesday (June 20), the star Indian batters got a special mention by legends like Kevin Pietersen and Kumar Sangakkara during Ashes analysis.

After the close of play on Day 4, Pietersen and Sangakkara sat down for a chat where they talked about Joe Root, who was stumped for the first time in his Test career during the Ashes 2023 opener at Edgbaston.

When the hosts mentioned that this year was also the first time that Virat Kohli was dismissed via stumping, the two former cricketers couldn't hold themselves back from praising the Indian batter.

"He [Virat Kohli] is a wonderful player of spin, and you sort of understand it because they play spin off the back foot and have such beautiful wrists. You hardly ever see Virat running down, charging, and going all guns blazing, and he certainly doesn't sweep, reverse sweep. I mean, you can watch him bat. Mentally, you can see him batting there, so you can sort of understand that," Pietersen said on Sky Sports.

On the other hand, Sangakkara said: "He [Kohli] is also a kind of IPL mode, isn't it? A lot of these players are very happy step-hitting from the crease. So, they don't allow bowlers to bowl on a length, so the old art of having to use your feet against spin is gone, or they don't do it anymore. You drop down and work a single. No, just stay in the crease and hit it out of the park. That's true."

Virat Kohli will be next seen in action during the tour of West Indies, starting with the two-match Test series in Dominica on July 12.
