Faf du Plessis has been named captain of the Texas Super Kings for the upcoming Major Cricket League (MLC) 2023.

Taking to Twitter, the franchise announced the appointment of South African as skipper. The Texas side will be coached by Stephen Fleming, who has been associated with Super Kings in the IPL and SA20.

Ambati Rayudu, who called time on his IPL career last month, will reunite with the Super Kings family as he has been signed by TSK for the MLC.

Rayudu will join his CSK mates like Devon Conway and Mitchell Santner along with South African batter David Miller.

Besides Rayudu, Dwayne Bravo, who played the role of a bowling coach during CSK’s IPL 2023 triumph, will also return as a player for the MLC tournament.

Texas Super Kings have also signed Australian all-rounder Daniel Sams and South African pacer Gerald Coetzee, who played for Jo’burg Super Kings in the inaugural SA20.

The draft picks for TSK include Sami Aslam, Rusty Theron, Saiteja Mukkamalla, Milind Kumar, Cody Chetty, Calvin Savage, Zia Shahzad, Lahiru Milantha and Cameron Stevenson.

TSK will begin their MLC campaign against Los Angeles Knight Riders in the tournament opener on July 13.
