Virat Kohli becomes only Indian and Asian with 250 million Instagram followers

Kohli is now the third most followed athlete of Instagram behind Lio Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

India batting superstar Virat Kohli earned a new milestone, but this time off the field as he became the first Indian and Asian personality to reach the 250-million followers mark on Instagram.

On Friday, the star batsman crossed the 250 million follower-mark on the photo-sharing platform. The cricketer has 1602 posts on his Instagram account and follows 278 people.

The sports star uses the platform to keep his fans updated about fitness, personal life, training and matches. He is also the highest-paid Indian influencer on Instagram, who earns in crores through paid partnerships for every sponsored post.

The 34-year-old is the third-most followed athlete after Cristiano Ronaldo (who ranks first) with 586 million followers and Lionel Messi (who holds the second position) with 464 million followers.

At the moment, Kohli is behind international celebrities like actress-singer Selena Gomez (418 million), reality TV star Kylie Jenner (391 million), actor Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson (381 million), singer-actress Ariana Grande (371 million), reality TV star Kim Kardashian (357 million), singer-actress Beyoncé (310 million), TV star Khloé Kardashian (307 million), singer Justin Bieber (290 million), supermodel Kendall Jenner (288 million) and Taylor Swift (260 million).

Kohli will next be seen in action for India in the upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) final, which will be held in Oval, England, from June 7
