Former India fast bowler, Chetan Sharma, who stepped down as chief selector of the Indian men's team three months ago, broke his silence with a cryptic tweet on Thursday (May 18).

Sharma tweeted, "Life has been very tough so far. No hope from your near & dear. Hope Mata Rani bless me...."

Sharma had submitted his resignation from the role after Zee News conducted a sting operation on him. The then chief selector claimed that some half-fit Indian cricketers take injections to ensure they return quickly to the team.

He also spoke on the ego clashes between ex-BCCI president Sourav Ganguly and former captain Virat Kohli, which led to Rohit Sharma becoming captain in all three formats, apart from also boasting about his relationship with several key players including Hardik Pandya.

Following the sting operation, the team management had reportedly told the board it was impossible for them and the players to trust Sharma. While BCCI maintained silence, Sharma smelt the coffee and offered his resignation which was accepted immediately by BCCI secretary Jay Shah.
