WATCH- “None of us wants to perform badly”- KL Rahul on social media trolling

KL Rahul will miss the WTC final due to surgery for his hip flexor injury.

KL Rahul | BCCI-IPL India batter KL Rahul opened up on constant trolling on social media for his batting form in recent times. Rahul is currently rehabbing after undergoing surgery for a hip flexor injury he sustained in the ongoing IPL 2023.

KL Rahul has had a difficult year as the Indian batter was heavily criticized from all quarters as a result of a dismal performance in the Test series against Australia. Rahul struggled to establish any form, scoring just 37 runs in his first two games. He was later benched before the third and fourth Tests.

While his performance in ODIs did improve, the debate over his batting has lingered. His strike rate in the current season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023) has received a great deal of attention.

It was not just fans who took part in these conversations as various ex-cricketers also joined in.

Rahul talked openly about his recent experiences with trolling and how they changed his outlook on cricket.

‘Khali bouncer hi aata hain tujhe’: Mohammed Siraj recalls when he annoyed KL Rahul at nets

That's something that sometimes affects me and affects a lot of the other boys as well that when we athletes truly need support, people feel they can or have the power to comment or say what they want. Just see what that person is going through,” Rahul said on the “The Ranveer Show” podcast.

None of us wants to perform badly. This is our life. This is all we do. Like I said, I don't know anything else apart from cricket. That's the only thing I do. Why would anyone assume that I am not serious about my game or that I am not working hard enough? And unfortunately in sports, there is no connection. Like I said you can work hard, like I work hard but the result didn't go my way,” he added.

As a result of his injury and subsequent surgery, Rahul is missing the latter half of the IPL 2023 and will also miss the WTC 2023 final against Australia at the Oval as well.
