Mumbai police filed an FIR on complaint on Tendulkar's instructions.

Sachin Tendulkar | GettyAn FIR has been filed by the Mumbai police against unknown people for utilising cricket star Sachin Tendulkar's name, image, and voice for the promotion of pharmaceutical items without authorization.

One of Tendulkar's aides filed a complaint with the West Region Cyber Police Station in this regard on Thursday, he said. The complaint said that while browsing the internet, he came across adverts for a pharmaceutical firm that claimed the master batter supported their line of goods.

He also found a website, sachinhealth.in, which promoted these products using Tendulkar's photo.

Tendulkar directed his aide to file a lawsuit since no one else had never obtained his consent to use his name and images and it was harming his reputation.

A First Information Report was registered against unidentified persons under Indian Penal Code sections 420 (cheating), 465 (forgery) and 500 (defamation) besides the Information Technology Act, the official said, adding that further investigation was on.

Sachin Tendulkar also posted an official statement on this issue as well.
