Shakib had an excellent outing for Bangladesh against World Champs England in the recent ODI series at home as he notched 141 runs at an average of 47 and a strike-rate of 92.76 with two half-centuries to his name. Shakib also picked up six wickets in that series at an economy rate of 4.80.

This included an amazing knock of 71-ball 75 followed by a four-wicket and won the Player of the Match award.

He then made 38 runs in the T20I series and picked up three wickets at an economy rate of 6.27, as Bangladesh recorded a history-making 3-0 whitewash over the T20 World Champions England.

"I am honored to win the award and would like to thank the expert panelists who have voted for me. This is a recognition I greatly value because there are so many special performances in a month from several amazing cricketers,” Shakib was quoted as saying by the ICC.

If I was to pick my highlight from the past month, it has to be the T20 series sweep against England and, with the team continuing to perform beautifully as a unit in all departments, it is easier for me now to concentrate on my role and contribute," Shakib added.

Shakib Al Hasan recently pulled out of the IPL 2023 citing personal reasons and international committments.
