“I don’t think that Pakistan will play their matches in India”- Wasim Khan on ODI World Cup

India are the hosts of the ICC World Cup 2023.

Wasim Khan, ICC GM of cricket | GettyThe General Manager of Cricket for the International Cricket Council (ICC) Wasim Khan has firmly said that he doesn’t think Pakistan will play their ODI World Cup matches in India, who are the hosts of the tournament, after the Asia Cup 2023 fiasco.

With BCCI remaining firm on their stand of not sending India to Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023 tournament in September, ESPNCricinfo reports suggested that a truce had been reached between PCB and BCCI, and that India would play its matches at a neutral venue and if they qualify for the final, that too will be played at the neutral venue.

Now former PCB CEO Wasim Khan predicted that given how the issue of Asia Cup 2023 has been resolved, PCB might also claim that Pakistan will play its ODI World Cup games at a neutral venue instead of in India who are the hosts of the tournament.

I don’t know if it would take place here on in a different country but a neutral venue is highly likely. I don’t think that Pakistan will play their matches in India. I think their matches will also be held at a neutral venue just like India’s Asia Cup matches,” Wasim told ARY News.

The ODI World Cup will be played from October 5 to November 19 in India with the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad hosting the final as per reports.
