Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan, who tied the marriage knot in January 2023, is enduring a tough time in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) season.

Playing for Islamabad United, Shadab has registered scores of 1, 3, 12 and 4 from four innings while he has taken six wickets in as many games.

During a press conference, a journalist asked if his marriage has any role to play in his poor performance.

While replying to the question, Shadab kept his cool and answered with a smile that his marriage has nothing to do with his on-field showing and added that it could be his finger injury, from which he has not fully recovered, could be one of the reasons for his underwhelming performance.

"Performance itni achi nahi hain lekin uska shaadi se koi taluk nahi hain (The performance is not good but it has nothing to do with my marriage). You guys know I'm making a return after an injury and my finger has not recovered entirely," Islamabad United skipper said while responding to the journalist's query.

"It has recovered but the pain and swelling is still there, so maybe that could be one of the reasons. However, this shouldn't be an excuse, but it (the dip in form) has nothing to do with my marriage," he added.

Shadab Khan’s individual performance may not be up to the mark but Islamabad United are doing exceptionally well in the 2023 edition of PSL.

As of today, Islamabad have played six games, winning four matches and losing two. They are currently occupying the third spot on the six-team points table.
