Umesh Yadav's father Tilak Yadav passes away at the age of 74

Tilak Yadav was unwell for the past few months.

Umesh Yadav's father Tilak Yadav | ANIIndia fast bowler Umesh Yadav’s father Tilak Yadav passed away at the age of 74 on Wednesday in his hometown of Khaparkheda. He was said to be unwell for the past few months and was undergoing treatment at a private hospital.

The family brought him home from the hospital as his condition was not improving despite treatment and he passed away in midst of loved ones at home.

Tilak Yadav, a resident of Pokarbhinda village in the Padrauna district of Uttar Pradesh, used to be a famous wrestler in his youth. He worked for Western Coal Fields and hence his family lived in the Valni mine located in Khaparkheda, Nagpur district.

He is survived by three sons- Kamlesh, cricketer Umesh, Ramesh, and a daughter. His last rites were performed at the Kolar river ghat in Nagpur district.

He wanted Umesh Yadav to join the police force, but his son went on to make a big name for himself in Indian cricket. Umesh has so far played 54 Tests, 75 ODIs, and seven T20 Internationals for India. He has 164 wickets at an average of 30.20 in 54 Tests and has 106 wickets in ODIs and nine wickets in T20 Internationals.

The right-arm pacer is currently part of the Indian squad for the ongoing four-Test series against Australia but wasn’t part of the India XI for the first two matches, which India won.
