Speedster Umran Malik’s stocks are on the rise ever since the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season, where he took 22 scalps in 14 games for the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
Thanks to his IPL exploits, Umran earned his India call-up and he has already made a mark at the highest level by consistently bowling at the speed of 150 kmph or more. The Jammu and Kashmir lad has represented India in 8 ODIs and as many T20Is so far, claiming a total of 24 wickets.
During the white-ball series against Sri Lanka last month, Umran touched the speed of 156 km/h, which is the fastest delivery bowled by an Indian pacer in international cricket.
Across the border, meanwhile, another young fast bowler is rising up in ranks. In the ongoing Pakistan Super League, Ihsanullah has taken the cricketing world by storm with his searing pace.
The 20-year-old, who is playing for Multan Sultans, rose to fame after he registered incredible figures of 5/12 in four overs during a match against Quetta Gladiators.
Ihsanullah has been constantly hitting the 150 kmph mark, but he is not ready to settle down just yet. He has a benchmark in mind and it’s to surpass Umran Malik’s fastest delivery record of 157 kmph which the SRH pacer bowled in last year’s IPL.
“Inshallah, koshish karunga. Umran Malik ne jo 157kph pe ball kiya hai, main koshish karunga uss se upar karunga. Umran Malik se upar karunga, 160 karunga. (God willing, I will try. Umran Malik had recorded 157kph, I will try to break his record. I will be aiming for the 160kph mark),” Ihsanullah said while speaking to PAK TV.
When asked about the dream batter he would like to dismiss, Ihsanullah replied: "Virat Kohli ko out karke khushi hogi (I will be glad if I get Virat Kohli out)."
