‘Kitna mushkil hai English seekhna…’: Akhtar explains why Babar has failed to become biggest brand in Pakistan

Akhtar has launched a scathing attack on the Pakistan side for not being able to improve their oratory skills.

Shoaib Akhtar | TwitterDuring his playing days, former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar was capable of scaring the best of batters with his pace.

After retirement, Akhtar has become an expert on the game, sharing views on his YouTube channel and other media outlets. He often becomes the talk of the town with his blunt comments.

Fondly known as the Rawalpindi Express, Shoaib Akhtar is once again grabbing the headlines with his outspoken statement.

This time, Akhtar has launched a scathing attack on the Pakistan side for not being able to improve their oratory skills. He feels that public speaking in English has become a daunting task for the Pakistani cricket team.

"Abhi aap dekh le, koi character nahi team mein. Naa koi baat karne ka tarika. (You can see there's no character in the team, nor do they know how to talk.) How awkward it looks when they come to the presentation. Kitna mushkil hai English seekhna aur baat karna? (How difficult is it to learn and speak English?). Cricket is one job, and handling media is another. If you can’t speak, I am sorry, but you won’t be able to express yourself on TV," Akhtar told Suno News.

The 47-year-old then called out current skipper Babar and explained why the star batter has failed to become the biggest brand in Pakistan.

"I want to openly say that Babar Azam should be the biggest brand in Pakistan, but why hasn't he become the biggest brand in Pakistan? Because he can’t speak," Shoaib observed.

"Is there any other cricketer who can speak well? Why only me, Shahid Afridi and Wasim Akram get all the advertisements?  The reason is that we take it as a job," he added.

Earlier, Babar had responded to the criticism of his communication skills, saying that his primary job is to play cricket.

"I'm a cricketer, my job is to play cricket. I am not a 'gora,' who knows English completely. Yes, I am working on it, but you learn these things over a period of time, you can't just suddenly learn it." Babar had said.
