BCCI chief selector Chetan Sharma on Friday (February 17) stepped down from his position amid row over alleged comments in a sting operation, news agency ANI reported.
“BCCI chief selector Chetan Sharma resigns from his post. He sent his resignation to BCCI Secretary Jay Shah who accepted it,” ANI confirmed through a tweet.
Chetan Sharma's position as chairman of the selection committee became untenable after his alleged outburst during a sting operation by a TV news channel.
In the video, the former fast bowler can be seen making some shocking statements regarding some behind the scenes of Indian cricket, including a rift between Sourav Ganguly and Virat Kohli among many other topics.
Before the Indian board could’ve taken any action, Chetan himself decided to relinquish the high-profile post.
Chetan Sharma was reappointed as BCCI’s chief selector last month.
