Sohail and Virat had an altercation during the 2015 World Cup encounter in Adelaide | GettyFormer Pakistani pacer Sohail Khan has made some damning claims about his spat with India batter Virat Kohli during the India-Pakistan 2015 World Cup encounter at Adelaide. Khan claims that his comment made Virat Kohli shut up for good and even MS Dhoni asked him to back off.

India had batted first and posted 300/7 with Virat Kohli slamming an amazing century, Suresh Raina making 74 and Shikhar Dhawan making 73, while on the other hand, Sohail Khan picked 5/55 in his 10 overs.

In reply, Pakistan could manage only 224 runs with Misbah scoring 76 runs and India winning the encounter by 76 runs.

The altercation between Sohail and Kohli happened when Pakistan was on the verge of defeat and recently, Sohail Khan on the Nadir Ali podcast, spilled the beans on what was said during that spat.

Sohail has revealed that Kohli charged at him first, which forces him to retort to a rather unpleasant remark.

He said: "Virat came. He said to me 'Aap cricket mein abhi aaye hain. And itni baatein karte ho (You've just arrived and you speak so much). I was a Test cricketer back then. I had played Test matches in 2006-07. Then in between I endured a troubled knee which forced me out of action. I said 'Beta jab tu Under-19 khel raha tha na, tera baap Test cricketer tha' (Son, when you were playing Under-19 for India, your father was a Test player)."

He further claims that it was India captain MS Dhoni who told Virat Kohli to back off saying that he didn’t know who Sohail Khan was.

"That's how I said it. Then if you see carefully, Misbah intervened and he got angry at me. He asked me to keep quiet. Then MS Dhoni also came and told Kohli 'Side pe ho jao, ye purana chawal hai, tu nahi jaanta isko. (Back down. He has been around for a long time. You don't know him),” Sohail added.

Sohail has played 9 Tests, 13 ODIs, and five T20Is for Pakistan picking up 51 international wickets and last played for Men in Green in 2017.
