Mickey Arthur likely to become the ‘online’ coach of Pakistan team- Report

Arthur is expected to coach Pakistan team on the ground in select few series only.

Mickey Arthur | TwitterRenowned coach Mickey Arthur is reportedly joining the Pakistan men’s team once more as their head coach despite turning down the offer from the new Pakistan Cricket board regime headed by Najam Sethi.

Arthur is currently the full-time head coach of English County Club Derbyshire and had cited the same for rejecting the PCB’s offer of becoming the full-time Pakistan coach once more. However, later PCB chief Najam Sethi revealed that he is in direct contact with Arthur.

And now as per a report in the Jang newspaper, the PCB committee will finalize the contract with Arthur within two weeks. However, interestingly, Arthur is expected to take up the role in ‘online’ capacity while appearing on the ground in chosen series and tournaments only.

The newspaper also revealed that Arthur has promised PCB to join the team in India for the 50-overs mega event this year. Meanwhile, he will continue working for Derbyshire County Cricket Club as a full-time coach.

Arthur's contract will be first-of-its-kind as PCB's management committee headed by Najam Sethi wants to occupy his services following his previous record with the national team when he was the coach from 2016 to 2019.

PCB will also appoint Arthur's assistant who will serve with the team on the ground in his absence. Arthur will be available to the players online.
