Australia’s swashbuckling opener David Warner admitted that he is feeling "tired" and "exhausted," and he would like to rest at home for a few days before taking flight for India for the upcoming four-match Border-Gavaskar Test series, starting on February 9.

Warner has had a hectic summer in all three formats of the game, as he featured in the limited-overs series against Zimbabwe, New Zealand, England, and the West Indies, followed by the T20 World Cup 2022 and the Test series against the West Indies and South Africa at home.

The left-hander also played six matches for the Sydney Thunder in the ongoing BBL 2022–23. Well, after the Sydney Thunder's exit from the ongoing BBL 12, Warner said that he would like to spend a night off instead of attending Cricket Australia’s awards on Monday (January 30).

David Warner told reporters: “It's been challenging. I'm quite tired, exhausted. There are a few guys who have gone to the UAE for the ILT20 League, which aren't going to the Cricket Australia awards. From my perspective, that would've been nice to have had another night at home. But it is what it is.”

The veteran opener also revealed the real reason behind taking part in the BBL 2022-23. He said, “For me, it was about coming back and trying to inject some energy into the Thunder team and trying to put my best foot forward for the team. It hasn't come off this year.”

Warner signed off by saying, “Hopefully next year I can come out and be a little bit fresher than what I am at the moment. It's going to be a long lead-in to our summer [that includes the ODI World Cup in India]. From a personal point of view, I'm going to have to try and work out how to stay nice and fresh.”
