One of the most talked about things currently in Indian cricket is how in-form batter Sarfaraz Khan has been continuously snubbed by the national selectors for the Indian team despite him scoring buckets of runs for Mumbai in domestic cricket.

Despite being relentless with the bat, Sarfaraz only remains 'in the scheme of things' but is still too far away from a spot in India's Test squad. This also led to some statements from the cricketer and his father as well in the media.

When India's squad for the first two Tests against Australia was named, Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav were picked, but Sarfaraz Khan was still ignored which led to widespread criticism of the BCCI selection committee and their methods.

While the cricketing fraternity continues to wonder when Sarfaraz Khan will get his much-deserved chance in the Indian team, BCCI selector Sridharan Sharath has shed some light on the issue.

'He has to do well in Tests, Indian cricket depends on him'- Sourav Ganguly on Virat Kohli's form

Speaking of the current unit, Sharath held praise for the veterans like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Cheteshwar Pujara as well as the younger stars.

"Kohli is still a match-winner. Cheteshwar Pujara brings stability to batting. Rohit Sharma is an excellent leader and a fabulous bat. Shreyas Iyer has been consistent. Shubhman Gill and K.L. Rahul have the genuine ability," he said while talking to Sportstar.

When asked about Sarfaraz, Sharath cited 'composition and balance' as the reason behind the young batter's exclusion.

"He is certainly on our radar. In due course, he will get his due. While picking the team, we have to consider things like composition and balance," he said.

The Indian squad for the remaining two Tests of Australia will be announced in due time and it is expected that Sarfaraz Khan might get picked for those matches.
