Virat Kohli has rediscovered his old form with the bat, registering impressive numbers in limited-overs cricket ever since he returned from his break in the Asia Cup 2022, but he is yet to see his best in Test cricket.

The dashing right-hander smashed hundreds in both ODIs and T20Is but failed to take his white-ball form to the longest format of the game, as he could manage only 1, 19*, 24, and 1 in two Tests against Bangladesh, while he averaged 26.5 in 11 innings in Test matches in 2022.

As Team India is set to face Australia in the four-match Borer-Gavaskar Trophy Test series at home next month, former BCCI President Sourav Ganguly said that Kohli must start performing well in Test cricket as well.

The former Indian captain said that Indian cricket depends on Kohli's form with the bat, so he must be on fire in Tests too.

In an interview with India Today, Sourav Ganguly said: “Virat Kohli is doing good. He has done well against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. He has to do well in Test Cricket also because the Indian cricket team depends on him. The Australia series is coming soon and I hope it will be a very good one. I want India and Australia to play the World Test Championship Final.”

Meanwhile, Ganguly was confident about India’s success in the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 when he was asked about the team’s chances.

He noted, “Indian side is very strong. India can't be a bad team. In our country, there are lots of players who play cricket. Half of them don't get a chance in the national team as the competition is very high.”

Ganguly signed off by saying, “I want this team to play till World Cup 2023. I want that the selectors and Rahul Dravid should keep this team together till World Cup. And in World Cup they should not worry much they just have to play good.”

Notably, India will be hosting the ODI World Cup 2023 in October and November this year.
