After months of trials in the legal battle with his estranged wife Hasin Jahan, India speedster Mohammad Shami finally received an order from a Kolkata court on Monday (January 23).

According to a report published in IANS, the court has asked Shami to pay a monthly alimony of Rs 1.30 lakh to Hasin Jahan. Out of the Rs 1.30 lakh, Rs 50,000 will be the personal alimony to Hasin while the remaining Rs 80,000 will be the cost of maintenance of their daughter who is staying with her.

In 2018, Hasin Jahan had filed a case in the court demanding a monthly alimony of Rs 10 lakh, out of which Rs 7,00,000 will be her personal alimony and the remaining Rs 3,00,000 will be in view of the maintenance cost of their daughter.

As per the report, her counsel Mriganka Mistry informed the court that as per the income tax returns of Shami for the financial year 2020-1, his annual income for that fiscal was over Rs 7 crore and, thus, the demand for a monthly alimony of Rs 10 lakh was not unfair.

However, Selim Rahman, the counsel for Shami, claimed that since Hasin Jahan herself was earning by working as a professional model, the demand for that high alimony amount was unjustified.

After hearing both sides, the lower court has fixed the monthly alimony amount at Rs 1.30 lakh. While Shami is yet to react on this court’s verdict, Hasin Jahan said that she would have been relieved had the monthly alimony amount been higher.

Back in 2018, Hasin Jahan had made serious allegations against Shami and even claimed that the fast bowler had fixed cricket matches against his country.

Subsequently, BCCI had withheld Shami from their national contract list. On March 22, 2018, the BCCI cleared his central contract after its Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) cleared him of corruption charges.

Not only that, he was accused of adultery and attempt to murder. Afterwards, Shami had broken all ties with Hasin.
