Ace Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is all set to return to action with Saurashtra in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2022–23 after being out of action since August 2022 due to a knee injury.

The 34-year-old suffered a knee injury during the Asia Cup 2022 and underwent surgery to fix the issue, which has kept him out of action since then. However, Jadeja is now ready to make his comeback, having regained his full fitness, and his first appearance would be against Tamil Nadu.

Saurashtra coach Niraj Odedra confirmed that Jadeja has been named in the star-studded squad, which also includes the likes of Jaydev Unadkat and Cheteshwar Pujara, for their final league match of the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2022–23 against Tamil Nadu, starting on January 24.

The star all-rounder will join Saurashtra's squad in Chennai on Sunday (January 22), and the coach Odedra believes that his return is a massive boost for the side ahead of the Ranji match to be played at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Tuesday.

Niraj Odedra told Sportstar: “His training and workload will be as per the National Cricket Academy (NCA) protocols. In fact, I had sent Jaddu a WhatsApp text saying that the boys are really excited to have him back. He immediately wrote back saying he is looking forward to catching up with the team.”

The coach added, “It’s been a while since he played Ranji Trophy for Saurashtra. A player of that caliber joining the team is a huge morale boost as well.”

Notably, Jadeja last featured in a Ranji Trophy game in November 2018. Saurashtra is currently on top of the Elite Group B points table with 26 points and will be looking for a win against Tamil Nadu.
