Team India’s former head coach Ravi Shastri recalled the team’s heroics in the Gabba Test two years back against Australia, as today, Thursday (January 19) they completed the two years of this memorable victory.

On January 19, 2021, India scripted history by breaching the Gabba fortress to record probably their greatest Test victory, as the second-string team defeated Australia by three wickets in the fourth and final Test of the series to clinch the Border-Gavaskar Trophy with a 2-1 margin at the Gabba.

It was India’s first victory at the Gabba, making them the first Asian side to win a Test at the venue and they also became the first side to defeat the Aussies at the Gabba in 32 years.

Meanwhile, Shatri, who was India's coach during this historic victory, took to Twitter to share a short clip of that day to celebrate the second anniversary of India’s Gabba fortress.

He also lauded the efforts of Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant, Mohammed Siraj, Washington Sundar, and Shardul Thakur that helped the side to script the history in Australia. Shastri also hoped that Pant would soon return to the Test side, as India is set to host Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy next month.

Ravi Shastri wrote on Twitter: #TDTY 2021 - 3 youngsters defied all odds to script the greatest Test win. Shubman Gill laid the foundation. Mohammed Siraj got the breakthroughs and Rishabh Pant finished it.”

He added, “Add Washington Sundar and Washington Sundar to the list. Their contribution was immense in the series win. I hope Rishabh joins the other 2 soon.”
