David Warner yet again dropped a major hint about his retirement from international cricket, and whenever the swashbuckling opener takes the call, he certainly will bow out as one of the most decorated Australian cricketers of all-time.

The left-hander has already won the ODI World Cup and the T20 World Cup in his illustrious career and many matches with his aggressive batting, but he has the desire to finish off his international career with the 2024 T20 World Cup title in the United States and the West Indies.

However, the veteran Aussie batter admitted that selection is not in his hands, but winning the 2024 T20 World Cup would be the icing on the cake, hinting that 2023–24 will be the last season of his career.

David Warner was quoted as saying by Sky Sports: “This will most likely be my last year of my international career. I've got my sights set on the 2024 T20 World Cup as well, so finishing in the Americas (North America and Caribbean islands), that'd be nice to top it off with a win over there, pending selection.”

He is currently playing in the BBL 12 for Sydney Thunders and would be seen in action for the club in the T20 league in the next season as well. Warned added, “I've signed (with the Sydney Thunder) for this year and next year, and it's my time to contribute and give back. I've got that time to do that now … (this will) most likely be my last year of my international career.”

Meanwhile, Steve Smith made it clear that he is only concentrating on his ODI and Test careers and has not given much thought to his T20I future.

Smith told reporters, “There's not a great deal of T20 internationals, so for me, Test and one-day cricket are the huge priorities with what's coming up and then we'll wait and see.”

Notably, Smith and Warner will next be seen in action in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in India, having been named in the Australia squad for the four-match Test series, starting on February 9 in Nagpur.
