Pant is currently in a private hospital in Mumbai.

Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer | TwitterIndian team members and other officials including the BCCI have shared their concerns and wishes for the speedy recovery of keeper-batter Rishabh Pant who was involved in a serious car crash on December 30 on his way to Roorkee from Delhi and barely escaped with his life.

Pant had sustained multiple injuries including two cuts on his forehead, a ligament tear in his right knee, and had also hurt his right wrist, ankle, and toe and suffered abrasion injuries on his back. He was recently treated at Max Hospital in Dehradun for abrasions and had plastic surgery for cuts on his face.

The BCCI decided to move him to Mumbai, where he was airlifted and admitted to the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital where he will be treated for his knee ligament injury by Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala, a renowned orthopedic surgeon.

Now Shreyas Iyer has talked about his feelings and reaction from the moment he came to know about Rishabh Pant’s almost fatal car accident.

Rishabh Pant may take at least six months to recover; knee ligament injury similar to that of Ravindra Jadeja’s- Report

“I got a message from friends and was devastated. Especially when I saw the pictures. I am just glad that he is safe now. I just hope he recovers fast so that I can play with him soon," said Iyer to Times of India.

Iyer also talked about his brilliant partnership with R Ashwin in the second Test against Bangladesh in Mirpur, Dhaka.

Recalling the same, he told TOI, “I was already there, but when I saw Axar getting out, I was  dejected. I realized how tough things will be. I saw Ashwin walk in with confidence and he came and gave me a fist bump, and said, “We’ll do it, Machi. don’t worry. I always love Ashwin’s confidence. Whenever he comes in, he starts off with a bang. The first ball he faces, it’s from the middle of his bat. From the other end, you derive confidence from his approach.

He is so experienced and is one of the best readers of the game. We have also batted a lot together in the IPL for Delhi Capitals. There was a game against Mumbai Indians in Sharjah where we were in trouble and he came in and started off confidently."
