Rishabh Pant set to be admitted to Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, confirms BCCI

Pant was involved in a horrific car accident on the Delhi-Dehradun expressway last week.

Pant was involved in a horrific car accident on the Delhi-Dehradun expressway last week while going to his hometown Roorkee from Delhi.

Subsequently, the southpaw was undergoing treatment at the Max Hospital in Dehradun for multiple injuries to his head, back, knee and ankle.

“The Board of Control for Cricket in India have made all the necessary arrangements to shift India wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant to Mumbai. Rishabh, who is currently receiving treatment for his injuries at Max Hospital, Dehradun following a car accident on 30th December, will be brought to Mumbai in an air ambulance,” the board said in its official release.

“He will be admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and Medical Research Institute and will be under the direct supervision of Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala, Head - the Centre for Sports Medicine, and Director - Arthroscopy & Shoulder Service at the hospital. Rishabh will undergo surgery and subsequent procedures for ligament tears and will continue to be monitored by the BCCI Medical Team throughout his recovery and rehabilitation,” it added.

“The Board will make every effort to aid and expedite the recovery process of Rishabh and will provide him with all the support he needs during this period,” BCCI further stated.

According to reports, Rishabh Pant’s injuries will keep him out of action for a minimum period of six months.

Pant is a key player for India, especially in the longest format, in the last two years. His absence from the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at home in February-March might could India’s chances of qualifying for the World Test Championship final.

Meanwhile, the Indian fans will be hoping and praying for his quick recovery and comeback to the field.
