Pakistan defeated India in super 4s stage of Asia Cup 2022 | GettyPakistan captain Babar Azam picked his team’s win over India in the Super 4s stage of the Asia Cup 2022 tournament as his favorite match of the year, citing its importance in helping the Men in Green reach the final of the tournament.

Babar and co. had lost to India in the group stage of the Asia Cup 2022 thanks to terrific innings from Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja. However, Pakistan beat India by five wickets in the final-over thriller in their next encounter in the Super 4s match.

This helped the Men in Green reach the final of the tournament where they faced off against Sri Lanka, but couldn’t manage to get their hands on the title.

"In T20 cricket, my favorite match was the win against India in the repeat fixture of the Asia Cup as it was a crucial game for us in terms of a place in the final," Babar said on PCB Podcast.

India avenged the loss in the T20 World Cup 2022 when thanks to an amazing 82* from Virat Kohli, the Men in Blue defeated Pakistan in front of more than 90,000 fans at the MCG by 3 wickets.

The Pakistan captain also picked his favorite Test win, saying: "Victory in the first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle was outstanding as we chased down 342 for the loss of 6 wickets on a difficult track. Abdullah Shafique was magnificent in the second innings when he scored 160 not out."

Babar further said that reaching the finals of the Asia Cup and the T20 World Cup was the highlight for Pakistan cricket in 2022. He also thanked Australia, New Zealand, and England for traveling to Pakistan.

"We reached the finals in the UAE and Australia, and though we did not perform the way we had expected in red-ball cricket, three sides ranked above Pakistan played in Pakistan that provided us a huge learning opportunity," Babar said.
