Just like all the years, Indian cricket team’s calendar is a jam-packed one in 2023. Due to the large fan base, it rarely happens that the Indian players are not on the road for a series or a tournament.
In fact, India’s men's and women's teams are far ahead of their counterparts from other countries in playing the number of matches throughout the year.
In 2023, Indian men’s team will look to end the long-standing ICC trophy drought by winning the World Test Championship (WTC) Final and the ODI World Cup. The fact that India will host the 50-over World Cup will increase the tournament's significance.
On the other hand, India will need to win the Border Gavaskar Trophy at home against Australia to book a place in the WTC Final.
Earlier, the BCCI announced the 2023 home season, as per which, the Indian men’s team will kick-start the year with a white-ball series (three T20Is and three ODIs) against Sri Lanka, scheduled to be held from January 3 to January 15.
Three days after the Sri Lanka series, India will host New Zealand for the same number of white-ball games, which will conclude on February 1. After an eight-day break, India and Australia will square off in a four-Test series followed by a three-ODI series beginning March 24.
