For helping save India cricketer Rishabh Pant from a near-death situation, a Haryana state bus driver Sushil Kumar Mann is duly receiving accolades from all quarters.
Pant met with a dreadful car accident in the wee hours on Friday (December 30) while going to his hometown Roorkee from Delhi.
The southpaw dozed off while driving and lost control of his Mercedes car, ramming it into the divider and causing the crash. It was at this point that Sushil came to Rishabh’s rescue and helped the cricketer come out of the car.
Since then, Sushil Kumar has become the talk of the town and he has been felicitated by the Haryana government as well.
Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, former India cricketer VVS Laxman also paid his respects to Sushil.
“Gratitude to #SushilKumar ,a Haryana Roadways driver who took #RishabhPant away from the burning car, wrapped him with a bedsheet and called the ambulance. We are very indebted to you for your selfless service, Sushil ji #RealHero,” he wrote.
Laxman also expressed his gratitude towards bus conductor Paramjit, who helped Sushil in saving Pant's life.
“Also special mention to the bus conductor, Paramjit who along with Driver Sushil helped Rishabh. Very grateful to these selfless guys who had great presence of mind and a big heart. Gratitude to them and all who helped,” he added.
